“Keratin or Botox?” is the question we hear most at our Kondapur branches — and the answer is never one-size-fits-all. Here’s everything you need to know before you book.

You’ve probably heard both terms thrown around — sometimes even by the same stylist. In Hyderabad’s heat and humidity, a good smoothening treatment isn’t a luxury, it’s practically survival. But Hair Botox and Keratin are not the same thing, and choosing the wrong one can mean months of results that just don’t suit your hair’s needs.

At adore salon, we’ve been doing both treatments since 2015 across our Kondapur branches. Here’s our honest, no-fluff breakdown.

Understanding the Treatments

What Is Hair Botox?

Despite the name, Hair Botox contains no actual botulinum toxin. Think of it as a deep-conditioning filler treatment. It’s packed with proteins, amino acids, collagen, and vitamins that penetrate the hair shaft, fill in gaps and damage, and smooth the cuticle from the inside out.

Hair Botox works by restoring lost proteins in your hair rather than coating or restructuring it. The result? Hair that looks healthy, shiny, and significantly smoother — without drastically changing your natural curl or wave pattern.

💡 adore Stylist Tip

Hair Botox is ideal if your hair is damaged from previous chemical treatments, heat styling, or colour — especially if you’re not looking to completely eliminate curls. It’s a rejuvenation, not a transformation.

What Is Keratin Treatment?

Keratin treatment (often called “Brazilian Blowout” or “hair smoothening”) uses a formaldehyde-based or formaldehyde-free keratin formula that is applied to the hair and then heat-sealed in using a flat iron at high temperatures. This permanently relaxes the hair’s protein bonds — smoothing frizz and reducing curl for 3–6 months.

The results are dramatically smoother and straighter. It’s a powerful treatment for thick, frizzy, or coarse hair types that struggle with Hyderabad’s humidity every single day.

Choose Your Treatment

Which One Is Right for You?

Choose Hair Botox if…

  • Your hair is damaged or over-processed
  • You want to keep your curls or waves
  • Your hair is fine or thin
  • You’ve recently coloured your hair
  • You need a quick, no-downtime treatment
  • You’re doing a pre-event hair glow-up

Choose Keratin if…

  • You have thick, coarse, or very frizzy hair
  • You want straighter, more manageable hair
  • You style your hair every morning and want to cut that time
  • You don’t mind 2–3 days of post-care restrictions
  • You want longer-lasting results
  • Hyderabad humidity is ruining your daily look

What About Indian Hair Specifically?

Indian hair tends to be thick, with strong natural texture — and Hyderabad’s humidity doesn’t help frizz. Most of our clients with naturally wavy or straight-but-frizzy hair love the Keratin treatment for day-to-day ease. Those with colour-treated or bleached hair almost always see better results with Hair Botox, since it won’t strip their colour and actively heals damaged strands.

🌿 Monsoon Season Note

Hyderabad’s June–September monsoon is the worst time for frizz. We recommend booking either treatment in May or early June so it has time to set before the humidity peaks. Both treatments provide meaningful frizz protection, but Keratin holds up better in sustained moisture.

After-Care & FAQs

After-Care: What You Need to Know

For Hair Botox

Wait 24–48 hours before washing. Use a sulphate-free shampoo to extend results. No special restrictions beyond that — you can tie your hair, tuck it behind your ears, and style it as normal almost immediately. Results typically last 2–4 months, and the treatment can safely be repeated.

For Keratin Treatment

The first 48–72 hours are critical. Keep hair completely dry — no sweat, rain, or washing. Don’t tie, clip, or tuck your hair in a way that leaves a bend or crease. After the initial period, use sulphate-free, sodium-chloride-free shampoos only. Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools or salt water for the first few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get Hair Botox immediately after colouring?+
Yes — Hair Botox is actually one of the best post-colour treatments. It replenishes the proteins that the colouring process strips away and can enhance colour vibrancy. We recommend waiting at least 1 week after colouring before booking, to let the colour settle.
Does Keratin treatment cause hair loss?+
No, keratin treatment does not cause hair loss when done correctly. Some people notice extra shedding in the first 2 weeks as weaker strands shed, but this is temporary. At adore, we use professional-grade products and our stylists are trained to assess your hair’s health before recommending any treatment.
How long does Hair Botox take at the salon?+
A Hair Botox session at adore typically takes 2–3 hours depending on hair length and thickness. Keratin treatment takes 2.5–4 hours. We recommend booking a slot when you have a relaxed morning or afternoon — don’t rush it.
Which treatment is better before a wedding or event?+
For weddings, we always recommend booking 2–3 weeks in advance. Hair Botox is ideal if your hair is already processed or if you want to keep natural texture for bridal styling. Keratin is better if you want silky-straight, ultra-manageable hair for the wedding week. Our bridal specialists can advise you during a free consultation at either branch.
Which is safer for men’s hair?+
Both treatments work for men. At our Him & Her branch in Whitefields, Kondapur, we regularly do keratin smoothening for men with thick, unruly hair — particularly those who want zero styling time in the morning. Hair Botox is excellent for men with thinning or damaged hair who want visible thickness and shine.
